Like all other German halftracks from WW2, the Kettenkrad has a lubricated track. Unlike the tracks used for tanks (dry track) each track link is equipped with two needle bearings (6-8) and two shaft sealing rings (11). This minimizes the friction in the track but maximizes the effort for building and maintaining the track.
| Per bearing | Per track link (2 bearings) | Per track (40 track links) | Per Kettenkrad (2 tracks) | |
| Needle rollers (9) | 30 | 60 | 2.400 | 4.800 |
| Outer ring (7) | 1 | 2 | 80 | 160 |
| Inner ring (8) | 1 | 2 | 80 | 160 |
| Sealing ring (11) | 1 | 2 | 80 | 160 |
| Cover (13) | 1 | 2 | 80 | 160 |
For every Kettenkrad you need 160 complete needle bearings and 160 shaft sealing rings. For the needle bearings you need in total 4.800 needle rollers, each 2,5 x 13,8 mm size.
Outer diameter of the outer ring: 38 mm. Inner diameter of the outer ring: 26,68 mm.
Inner diameter od the sealing ring: 35,0 mm
Width of the outer ring (with
collar): 24 mm
Length of the inner ring: 48,3 mm. Diameter of the bearing surface: 21,58 mm.
Inner diameter
(= diameter of the track pin): 14,07 mm
2 x Length of the inner ring = Outer width of the track link: 96,6 mm (requires a little clearance)
Size of the original seal ring: 22 mm x 35 mm x 7 mm. This is a standard size for shaft sealing rings.
